- Buttler has claimed that his side will be looking to an ensure that final isn't an all-Asian affair
- The England captain also said that he expects tough competition from India in the semi-final
England captain Jos Buttler has said that his team will be trying to make sure that an India vs Pakistan final doesn't happen at this year's edition of the T20 World Cup. India vs Pakistan has been viewed as a marquee fixture in world cricket, with fans turning up in numbers to watch the game in the stadium. The viewership figures are also high for the clash between the arch-rivals.
Former cricketers like Shoaib Akhtar have also said publicly that they're hoping to see the Asian giants in the final of this year's tournament. “Hopefully, India and Pakistan don’t return home after the semi-finals. I want to watch an India-Pakistan final. The broadcasters and the ICC will have the most fun if this happens,” said Akhtar. However, Buttler isn't too keen on the idea of an India vs Pakistan final at this year's T20 World Cup. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the England captain said that his team doesn't want to see both teams battling it out for the trophy and will try to make sure that a repeat of 2007 will not happen.
