UG Programs
Admission to 4 and 5 year Undergraduate programs at IIT Bombay is through the JEE Exam.

PG Programs
The Institute offers Master of Technology programs in various disciplines. The aim of the program is to train the students in deeper theoretical knowledge which will enable them to tackle practical complex problems of design and development in industrial fields, as well as pursue further academic achievements through research. For fulfilling this aim, the program structure provides sufficient flexibility in coursework and thesis project. The Institute offers a full-time program of 2-year and a part-time program of 3-year duration. Students are admitted to the full-time program under the categories of Teaching Assistantship (TA), Teaching Assistantship through Project (TAP), Fellowship Award (FA), and Sponsored (SW). The part-time program is available to the students admitted under the categories of Sponsored (SW), Institute Research Assistantship (RA), Research Assistantship through Project (RAP), Project Staff (PS) and Institute Staff (IS). PS and IS categories are only for persons employed at IIT Bombay.

General Eligibility for M Tech Program in all Academic Units (Departments, Centers, Schools, Interdisciplinary Groups, Cross Departmental Programs) Qualifying degree. B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Sc. (Engineering) / Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Planning/M.Sc. / M.C.A. / MBBS / M.Pharm. / B.Pharm.(4 yr. Degree) / BDS (4 yr. Degree) / recognized equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech. earned through Associate Membership Examinations conducted by recognized professional bodies (like Institution of Engrs. (India), Institute of Chemical Engrs., Aeronautical Society of India, Institute of Electronics & Telecommunication Engrs., Indian Institute of Metals, etc.).

Research Programmes
Applications for Ph.D. Program are accepted round the year, however they are processed twice a year (i.e. Autumn Semester (July session) and Spring Semester (January session))
IIT Bombay is one of the few institutions in India that can offer PMRF Fellowship to meritorious Ph.D. candidates at the time of admission into the Ph.D. program. PMRF fellows get a monthly stipend of Rs 70,000 along with an annual contingency grant of Rs 2 Lakh. To apply for PMRF, the candidate needs to get selected in our regular Ph.D. program, and the Institute will recommend selected few candidates (with high academic credentials and demonstrated potential for research) for PMRF. Final Award of the PMRF fellowship is subject to approval by the discipline-specific Selection Committee. Recipients of PMRF Fellowship will be subject to the rules and obligations of the PMRF, and the continuation of the PMRF Fellowship will depend on demonstrated research excellence that will be reviewed annually.
