Performing arts include music, dance and drama which are performed before an audience for the purpose of entertainment.

Music is an art form which produce sound accompanied by rhythm and pitch. The word music was derived from the Greek word ‘mousike’ which means ‘the art of muses’ .folk, jazz, pop are some of the popular genres of music. Dance is the movement of body against the music played in the background. It is non-verbal expression before the audience. Drama is the acting of a story before an audience with the help of dialogues, gestures, dance and sound. The word drama was derived from the Greek word ‘drao’ which means action.

B.P.A. Dance or Bachelor of Performing Arts in Dance is an undergraduate Acting, Dance & Drama course. Dance is a series of movements that match the speed and rhythm of a piece of music. The course focuses on developing your dance technique and knowledge of dance history, gaining embodied and theoretical experience of cultural forms, developing creative skills and increasing your knowledge of anatomy. In the third year, you will work with a professional choreographer to create and perform new work and will work with a supervisor to create a piece of research (this might be practice-led). Theatre Studies

The most important objective of the programme is to train the learners in different aspects of the theatre such as script, acting, direction and stage craft. At the end of the programme the learners should be able to put up independent productions and use theatre in various applied contexts.

English Studies

Music

The Music courses aspire to create a genuine interest and appreciation for western classical music (voice and piano) among students. Institutes offering admissions through Common Entrance Test go for scores of AUCET, BUCET etc. To get admissions in these institutes candidates would have to qualify the respective entrance exam by securing minimum qualifying marks.
